PREPARATION FOR ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION
No preparation is required except in the following cases:
Preparation for Upper Abdominal Ultrasound:
The patient must fast for 5–6 hours before the exam. Medication should not be discontinued.
Preparation for Lower Abdominal Ultrasound:
The patient may eat normally before the exam. However, the bladder must be full. The patient should drink 4–5 glasses of water one hour before the exam and avoid urinating until after the examination.
